by undercover inare this many people really that stupid?
43% of people polled believe that divine intervention played a part in tebow's unlikely success in leading the broncos to the playoffs.

Did anything significant happen in 1934?
by Paralipomenon inlooking at the 607/587 bce issue, i was wondering if the bethel could spin some new light to avoid embarassment and buy themselves an extra 25 years or so.. if it was 1935, they could claim that the call to close the doors to heaven was actually the real date of jesus' invisible reign and tie up two embarassments with one flash of light.. best i could find though, nothing really important happended then.
anyone else with better jw historical records think of an "out" for them?.
once 2014 comes, they are in for a major explanation.

I've always thought 1934 would be a good adjustment date. They could kill two birds with one stone- First, they could put the 607/587 issue to rest. Second, they could buy themselves a little extra time.
But now that they've come out with their overlapping generations theory, it's probably a moot point.

Elder father sent me an email about Feb 2012 WT - my resposne
by TheStumbler ini'm not sure if any of you will remember but i posted on here six months ago about a correspondence i was having with my dad, an elder, about who would die in armageddon.
i was asking some tough questions about children being killed in armageddon and i could tell he uncomfortable with the answers he was giving.. i drafted an email in resposne to his email but in the end i decided not to send it in the interest of maintaining friendly relations.. .
last week, out of the blue, my dad sent an email link to the february 2012 watchtower article about armageddon and said it would answer some of my questions.. here is my response which is a critique of the feb 2012 wt article and some of the broader ethics concerning 'armageddon'.

Is it possible that many who die at Armageddon will be resurrected?
JWs believe otherwise, at least they did when I was in. I was always taught that all who died at Armageddon wouldn't have hope of a resurrection.

You could always choose option 3: Don't go in at all.

All the money collected goes to building more Kingdom Halls and publishing literature. No one is getting rich here. Just spiritually rich.
Okay, now I know you're just fucking with us. Well done!

The music that moves you....
by FlyingHighNow inonce when i was profoundly sad for too many days, my brother in law sent us a mix tape.

I've been crunching the numbers, and the concept of Santa Claus doesn't add up
by keyser soze inmaybe i'm overly skeptical after years of having been lied to by the wt....but from a purely logistical standpoint, the idea that he could cover the amount of territory necessary in the amount of time allotted, just doesn't seem feasible.. now, granted, there are certain variables in the equation that are highly speculative, such as the speed he would be travelling at.
it's quite possible that reindeer travel faster through the air than by land, maybe quite faster.
but even if we assume he is travelling the speed of a lear jet, and you factor in all the differen't time zones, i still don't see how he has enough time to complete his task.. am i missing something, or is the story totally bogus?.

Some hatred just can't be contained in one thread alone I suppose.
And hatred for an individual the OP claims not to have heard of until after his death. Very curious.
